Historical Interpreter Positions

The Pricketts Fort Memorial Foundation seeks historical interpreters and craftspeople to fill roles for full-time and part-time seasonal positions. Knowledge of 18th & 19th century regional history, ability to demonstrate daily life skills or historic craft, and enthusiasm for working with the public are required. A degree in history or education is desirable. Apply by sending cover letter and resume by mail to Pricketts Fort SEARCH, 88 State Park Road, Fairmont, WV 26554. Primary Responsibilities:
Historical Interpretation
  • Demonstrate and interpret regional male roles of 18th century frontier fort
  • Interpret the 19th century Job Prickett House
  • Provide specialized talks and guided tours
  • Conduct school tours
  • Assist with special educational programs
Facilities
  • Every day fort maintenance
Special Events
  • Assist with special events and encampments as needed​
Other duties as assigned

Hours of Operation


Visitor Center:
Open Daily 10am to 4pm. 
After October 25, 2025,
Closed Weekends until April 20th. 


Fort Tours:
The next tour season begins on April 20, 2026 and runs through October 25, 2026.
​Closed Mondays and Tuesdays after Labor Day (Sept 8th).


Due to the start of the Stockade Replacement Project, we will not be offering audio tours this Winter. 

The Junction Cafe:

  • Last day of operation for 2025 season is Nov 1st. ​
  • Reopen in April 2026!

Photography Policy

Starting April 23, 2018, Prickett's Fort State Park and the Pricketts Fort Memorial Foundation will no longer allow for pay photographers (photographers for hire) to take pictures during operating hours and special events. Photographers are welcome before and after regular business hours and special events. Please see times and upcoming events page.
