Annual Spring Bird Walks
Satuday 8am. Come celebrate the joys of spring with a Saturday morning bird walk. Staff of the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources will lead the public on this annual rite of passage. Wear sturday walking shoes and bring binoculars if you have them. FREE and open to the public. |

Traditional Music Day
Saturday 10am to 4pm. Enjoy a full day of Traditional Music with musicians scheduled to perform inside the Visitor Center, as well as informal jamming in the park. There is no charge for the entertainment. Tours of the Fort and Job Pricketts House require a ticket. |

History Alive Harriet Tubman: Behind Enemy Lines by Ilene Evans
Sunday 2pm. Harriet Tubman was born into slavery in Maryland, but escaped through the Underground Railroad in 1849. She became the most famous leader of that network, aiding slaves in their escape to free states and Canada. Portrayed by Ilene Evans, a West Virginia theatrical artist and storyteller. Sponsored by the West Virginia Humanities Council. FREE and open to the public. |

Memorial Day: "Whispers in the Wind"
Sunday and Monday 7 pm
Hear the voices of those who lived and died on the frontier through a historically based performance written by FSU students under Dr. Fran Kirk’s direction. This original work will be performed by actors from Town and Gown Theatre Company. Attendees will begin by gathering at the park’s Visitor Center and will be guided on a walking path to the cemetery for the one-hour production. There will be seats provided in the cemetery but walking is required. Tickets are $4 per person and seating is limited to 60 per show. Historic Arts Workshop: Horn Building with William Frankfort
Friday 6 to 10pm, Saturday 9am to 4pm, Sunday 1 to 4pm.
This weekend workshop will cover the history of Powder horns and Scrimshaw; Powder horn construction; and engraving. Powder horn kits can be purchased for $15 (un – engraveable) or $30 engraveable and scrimshaw kits for $10 Practice material will be available as well as cow horn boxes and containers starting at$10. Free Outdoor Concert: Mountain Thyme

Come join us for an evening of entertainment at Pricketts Forts outdoor Amphitheater by the Appalachian Celtic group, MOUNTAIN THYME. An all-woman musical ensemble that performs traditional songs from the Celtic lands of Ireland, Scotland and England as well as America and West Virginia. Historic Arts Workshop: Bobbin Lace with Kim Miller

Bobbin lace (or pillow lace) takes its name from the way it is made: on a pillow to which a picked out pattern is tacked and each twist of the bobbins is held in place by a pin. Make a bookmark in this weekend workshop. Class is open to anyone who wants to get started or build their skills. History Alive - Stonewall Jackson Portrayed By Doug Riley

Born in Clarksburg, Jackson was an orphan who became one of the most revered names in military history. He is regarded by experts as a tactical genius and a relentless battlefield commander of unsurpassed ability. The men of the “Stonewall Brigade” were fiercely loyal to their leader. General Jackson was a devoutly religious man whose death by friendly fire was a crushing blow to Confederate hopes for ultimate victory. |

History Alive Ostenaco with Doug Wood

During the French and Indian War Ostenaco was leader of Cherokee warriors who allied with Virginia military leaders against northern tribes fighting with the French. His leadership provided a vital alliance for the British colonial settlements in much of present West Virginia. West Virginia Storytelling Festival

Join the West Virginia Storytelling Guild for a two day storytelling festival in the park. Schools are invited to participate in special workshops and storytelling for students. Annual 18th Century Christmas Market
Friday and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm, Sunday 1 to 4 pm
Join us for a unique shopping experience in an historic environment. Artisans will demonstrate and feature works for sale in the Fort’s Visitor Center as well as the historic area. Enjoy hot wassail and period decorations and live music. Shoppers will not be charged to enter the historic area. A guided tour will be offered by costumed interpreters for visitors on a set schedule for half-price admission. |
