October 26, 2013. Saturday 9am to 4pm. Join local basket weaver Helen Efaw and learn to make a beautiful gathering basket utilizing fall colors. The class is designed for the beginner weaver, as well as the advanced beginner. Create a basket to display in your home or as a special gift for a friend or relative. Please bring a brown bag lunch. Class meets in the Visitor Center June 8-9, 2013 Min 2 Max 10 Saturday 10 am to 1 pm, Sunday 1 to 4 pm Bobbin lace (or pillow lace) takes its name from the way it is made: on a firm pillow to which a pricked-out pattern is tacked and each twist of the bobbins is held in place by a pin. For all its intricate and elegant appearance, there are only two different movements of bobbins in the formation of the lace: the twist and the cross. Make a bookmark in this weekend workshop. Class is open to anyone who wants to get started or build their skills

October 25-27, 2013 Students will learn the history of the tomahawk and how it was used. Students who participated in Greg's Introduction to Blacksmithing class will be able to apply the skills learned from the August workshop to make their own tomahawk that they can take homel. June 7-9, 2013 Friday 6 to 10 pm, Saturday 9 am to 4 pm, Sunday 1 to 4 pm This weekend workshop will cover the History of Powderhorns and Scrimshaw; Powderhorn Construction; and Scrimshaw and Engraving. Powderhorn kits can be purchased for $15 (un-engraveable) or $30 engraveable, and scrimshaw kits for $10. Practice material will be available as well as other items such as cow horn boxes and containers at variable prices starting at $10.
